Daddy's girl grew up by fee-absinthe Daddy's girl grew up by fee-absinthe
Remember the little girl in this drawing?

Well, she grew up... Sadly, daddy died and Anne ended up in a brothel, but she doesn't complain that much, her life isn't that hard. Madame Julia, the woman who runs the brothel, sort of "adopted her" and keeps her pretty (if Anne loses her atributes, she' will probably lose many clients). Besides, it's easier for Anne to pickpocket guys.

But even if her life could be worse, she still dreams of being a pirate like her dad and find the greatest treasure in the world.

You have such a wonderful imagination -- she would make an awesome pirate. :D

My imaginations is a little hyperactive xD It's so frustrating when you can't capture everything that's on your mind because of the lack of skill! >.<

But yeah, she has almost no moral sense after all she's been through (*almost*) so she would be quite good at it :ahoy:

Hyperactive imaginations are perfectly acceptable! And I'm not sure what you were hoping to capture that you didn't -- because she has attitude, spirit, and character that seem to jump right off the screen at me!! :D

Your characters are ALWAYS expressive and full of personality -- it's one of the things that consistently draws me into the scenes you draw!

Oh! What a sad little tale for the girl! Though, I DO love the way she looks in your picture of the adult Anne. She seems impetuous as well as strong-willed. I actually imagine a sword somewhere at her hip, or maybe a knife in her corset!

She always keeps daggers hidden beneath her petticoats xD A girl needs to defend herself in a world like that @@

I don't like damsels in distress very much, so I usually give them a few characteristics so they can take care of themselves (at least for a while xD)withoutfalling inrto the superwoman category, of course

It's hard to NOT cross the line into the superwoman or the weepy damsel categories. Prolly since you found the middle ground, it's why I LOVE your little darling so much. Though she WAS cute as a kid!

Yes she was!!! The only kid in a ship full of strong, hard, bad guys? omg they were spoiling her all day xD I've got a few drawings in my sketchbook of her childhood, but I think my skills at drawing kids fluctuate to much, sometimes they look cute but others, they just look like huge-eyed little monsters xD

Spoiling her... a ship of bad guys.... Hahah... Makes me think of "Tangled," if you saw that movie. There was that scene in a tavern full of rogues and ruffians? And suddenly they're all singing about their dreams - which were all so cute! Hahah...

I don't know WHAT's harder, really: kids or the... middle aged and elderly. One of my groups has a time-warp event going on, and I'm TRYING to draw my character as a kid and as a dude in his 40s. SOOOOO hard! At least you sometimes manage! And depending on the viewer, your 'huge-eyed monsters' probably look adorable too!

Yeah! Older people are so hard to draw! But kids are still the worst for me. I cannot find the right proportions xDDDDDDDD

Her dad was quite a tough guy... So he probably wouldn't like her daughter's job, but I don't thing they have the normal prejudice against prostitution, it's just the fact that men like himself may have sex sex with his daughter that would piss him off.

Spying is so fun *O* Anne is more of a pick pocket herself xD

yeah. it's just the men she's around would kind of treat her bad I bet. I can imagine him being protective! he's a big guy ! :D so cute.

haha that's awesome though. why not pick the pockets :P
Yeah, Kayea is a part of a secret Order. She's paid to pillow talk men out of their secrets, and her girls do the same. She's just one of the characters in the graphic novel I wrote. :)

Well, bad guys are part of the job I think :/ The nastiest part of it. But she can defend herself, even if she's petite xD

I want to make this story a graphic novel too one day n_n Right now i'm trying to design all characters. It started as a role play story and universe I created but then I felt an urge to go deeper and started drawing everything I could xD

omg same story. My graphic novel started off as an RP with my friends. I wasn't really good at drawing people at the time so while I was practicing, I wrote the entire 273 page script. Problem is, is that they're kind of unwilling to change anything about their characters. They wrote three, and I wrote 15 AND the plot, and there are some holes. So, unable to work with them I decided to drop that story and write another one without their characters for now. Kind of a prequel. Maybe if they see the prequel then they'll want to get more involved.

Anywho, I used a FREE program called Celtx. [link] It's a free download that auto-formats anything from screenplays, to story boards, and COMICS! It's a great tool.

While I'm writing that prequel, I'm trying to get better at drawing people. I was terrible a year ago, but now I'm getting better I think. My faces need work, but I hope it'll all improve.

*saves program*

I've improved a lot in the last year, so practice is always the best way xD I still have problems with construction and poses, but I think that next year, if I keep working, i'll be more satisfied and start drawing the story seriously (not just sketches and illustrations).

Yeah definetly. I plan to start my senior year of college when I graduate. I'm a sophomore now. I figured that's a good goal to get better by. It'll give me plenty of time. Its so amazing to find someone who wants to do the same thing. A lot of the artists I find out there are just...too big to touch. Hard to talk to them.

Yeah, well, I guess some just get too many questions so they cannot answer everything xD Popularity and talent can keep you busy!

I think that every artist is always in training. When you think that your work is good enough, that's the day of your death. You must always work hard to be even better. At least that's what I think xD
